Saving Labor And Emissions And Gaining Data With Solar Hybrid Light Towers On A Construction Project

Texas –While building a new manufacturing plant in Texas, a large international technology company grew tired of the labor required for its existing solar light towers. The firm also wanted to monitor the job site more closely, which was not possible until REIC entered the job.
Labor and Costs Too High
As construction on this new facility progressed, the job site had dozens of solar light towers on the project. The vast number of light towers on site required personnel to manually activate the lights each night – one by one – and repeat the shutdown each morning. Additionally, there was no method to determine run times on the lights or monitor the operation of the units. The building owners wanted control and data and needed different, better lighting but also wanted to maintain the “green” aspect of solar-powered lighting.
Equipment Demo First
REIC was contacted by the general contractor on the site. A demo soon followed, including a remote demonstration that showed the contractor and the building owner executives how the solar hybrid light towers can be started/stopped remotely and programmed to turn on/off at scheduled times. The end-user was also able to receive scheduled reports with all the needed operation data.
Technology is the Difference
The combination of scheduled start-up and shut-down, remote controls and reports of data concerning all units led to the decision. REIC delivered 60 solar hybrid light towers to the job site. Soon after, another 20 portable lighting units were added. The lighting remains on the project today while construction continues.
Cost Savings and Advanced Options
Reducing the labor needed to start/stop the lighting was a fiscal windfall, and the end user was thrilled to be able to track the units on their project. REIC and our fleet of technologically advanced, environmentally friendly, and time/cost-saving light towers certainly brightened things up on this construction site.
