Manufacturing Facility Improves Operations and Saves Capital Expense with Rental Cooling Solution
Location: Texas
Industry: Manufacturing
Equipment: Rental Air Conditioning, One 45-Ton Cooling Unit, One 80-Ton Cooling Unit
North Central Texas – Facing another summer of high temperatures and limited success with smaller cooling units, a Texas manufacturing facility turned to REIC Specialty for a better cooling solution. After receiving an estimate for a permanent HVAC system, and evaluating other options, the company determined that a seasonal cooling rental may be their best choice and was recommended to call REIC by a local mechanical contractor.
Sizing Best Cooling Solution
After visiting the facility and evaluating the manufacturing process and heat generation, the size of the building, as well as learning about the cooling goals of the company, the cooling size was determined. The next determination was the footprint available for rental AC units, as well as entry points into the facility. With these factors out of the way, power was discussed, and the need for generators was determined.
Evaluating Rental Costs and Sizing
Despite renting cooling and a generator, the manufacturing company calculated that this was more cost effective for them, rather than the large capital expense of a permanent HVAC system. In addition, REIC was able to deliver and setup the cooling incredibly fast compared to the months (at best) that it would take for a permanent installation.
Service & Equipment to Reach Goals
The REIC team arranged for the generator and handled all details of the delivery of an 80-ton rental AC unit, a 45-ton rental AC unit and the generator. REIC managed the fueling service, and the REIC service team set up the units and temporary ducting. The cooling from the AC units was fed through temporary entry points into the facility and distributed throughout the manufacturing facility. Temporary poly-ducting was used to spread the cool air throughout the building, directed to areas where workers needed the cool air.

Rental Solution Delivers
The temporary cooling lowered the interior temperatures nearly 20 degrees, allowing the manufacturing employees to work safely and efficiently, even during the hottest period of the Texas summer. The cooling remained on site the remainder of the season and is expected to return next summer.
