After A Permanent AC Unit Failed, Business Operations Restored With A Rental Cooling Unit
Location: Texas
Industry: Manufacturing
Equipment: Rental Air Conditioning, One 25-Ton Cooling Unit
Texas – When a rooftop air conditioner suffered a failure in the peak of summer, a storage and distribution facility knew that they needed help fast. It was the hottest time of year, and their workers could not safely perform their duties indoors without cooling. Business operations were halted for safety reasons, but they needed cooling to continue working. Given the size of the facility, they also knew that small, portable cooling wouldn’t be sufficient or cost-effective. They needed air conditioning quickly.
Quick Response
Following some calls, the REIC Specialty team was recommended to the company based on past experience renting cooling and other climate control equipment. A local Cahill representative quickly arrived on the scene to size the building and its cooling needs, determine the air conditioning size needed, and evaluate power availability.
Delivery Equipment and Meeting Needs
A 25-ton air conditioning unit was ultimately selected to cool the areas of the facility, and a temporary generator was also required, given the limited power available. REIC was able to arrange for all the equipment, including the generator, along with delivery, setup and startup of the unit. Temporary ductwork was sent into the building, with flexible, temporary ducting spread throughout the interior to distribute cool air to areas needed most.
Rental Units for Short or Long Term
The rooftop unit was deemed unrepairable and remains out of service. The REIC rental cooling unit was initially rented for use while the permanent RTU was repaired. Following the news that costs and/or viability of repairing the unit were not happening, the rental AC unit remained on site the remainder of the summer and is expected to be used the following year, given the high replacement unit costs.

Renting Can Be Cheaper
The owners determined that renting an AC unit was ultimately cheaper and financially wise compared to a new unit. REIC and their service team were praised with their fast acting and thorough response to help this storage facility and warehouse return to work quickly and safely.
